Greetings Library Friends,
keelscientist.jpg
My name is Mr. Keel and I am the library media specialist at R.M. Marrs Magnet Center. This is my first year here as the library/media specialist and I feel fortunate to work with so many great students and teachers.

Being a military brat, I have had many opportunities to visit some fascinating places around the world. I was born in Sapporo, Japan, a country I would like to visit again since I don't remember much. I have also lived in Germany, visited Belgium, Austria, and the Netherlands. Other exciting trips include traveling around the United States, Mexico, Spain, France, Portugal, Thailand, Maylasia, and Hong Kong. I relish the opportunity to learn about different cultures and people, and I have found that people around the world are more similar than different.

After college, I worked at Boys Town as a substitute teacher, taught for seven months in the Republic of China (Taiwan), taught seventh grade English at Marrs Middle School for seven years, taught one year at North High School, four years at Central Park and now I work at here at Marrs.

I have recently completed my educational media endorsement at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and, thanks to the support of many people, like my brother Jason, I have earned a Master's Degree in Secondary Education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

My Trip To Mexico this summer was great fun. I studied at the Spanish Language Institute for four weeks and stayed with a Mexican family. I learned a lot, but I have a long way to go before I am fluent in Spanish. I'll keep trying!

Reading is my passion, and I hope that the students of Marrs Magnet Center and I will have an opportunity to read and enjoy literature together.
