The following activities and projects and this sheet is required for your participation in the Golden Sower Book Club.  Intermediate students need to read four of the ten Golden Sower Books, complete one of the projects below, and turn in this sheet, signed by your parents.  Thoughtful ideas and creativity must be evident in each of the book reports.

Project 1: Create a diary for your character that spans several days and includes some of the major action of the story.  Be sure to write in the voice of that character.

Project 2: Write a new ending for the story.  Imagine that the problem was solved in a different manner.  Think about what the character’s life might be like if something else had happened.

Project 3: Diorama.  Design a three dimensional scene from the book that you read.  It should be a miniature slice of life and appear very realistic.  All three sides and the bottom and top should represent your scene.  Include a description and summary with your diorama.

Project 4: Write a four paragraph book report that could be used as a review on a website.
Paragraph one should be a five sentence summary.  Paragraph two - what you liked and disliked about the book, paragraph three, describe the author’s writing style and paragraph four, your recommendations - should others read this book?  why or why not?

Project 5:  Write a three page play that uses the characters in the story.  Your play should include the major action of the story and be written in such a way that someone could act it out.

Project 6: Newspaper front page.  Create a front page article describing a heroic character or explaining an event from the book.  Draw a picture to illustrate the article.  Be sure to tell the five Ws.

Project 7: Character Mobile:  Draw and hang pictures of each character with yarn from a bent hanger.  Cut out or draw pictures that represent items characters used in the story.

Project 8: Board game:  Create a board game around the events of the book.  Make a game board and find appropriate pieces to use as markers.  If playing cards are needed, write precise questions or instructions.  Write clear directions so classmates can play.

What about comics, movies, brochures, book covers . . . Got an idea? Let Mr. K know!
