Welcome to the Harrison PTA!
Welcome to the 2006-2007 school year! The Harrison PTA is looking forward to a great year. As a member of the Harrison community, you're encouraged to become involved in the PTA. Membership gives you a voice in the organization, a free Harrison School directory (otherwise $7.00 ea), and the opportunity to be an active participant in your child's school experience. Research shows that children are more successful in school when their parents "express high (but not unrealistic) expectations for their children's achievement and future careers," take an active part in their education by talking to teachers, genuinely ask their children about their studies, and actively volunteer at school while creating a home environment that
encourages learning (www.nea.org/parents/research-parents.html).
Each year, the PTA works to provide Harrison students, teachers, and staff with enrichment and recognition programs. Some examples include field trips, STAR grants for teachers, after school programs/clubs, room parties, yearbook subsidy, teacher appreciation, books for classroom use, playground equipment, and fun family nights, just to name a few. To continue to provide these worthwhile activities we need YOUR help as a volunteer. There are many opportunities to serve, including leadership/chairperson positions. Your help, big and small, can make a difference at Harrison , for our children and teachers!
