After the War
Story Synopsis
Ruth Mendenburg has survived the Holocaust. Upon her release from Buchenwald, Ruth seeks to answer the question, "Am I the only one left from my family?" And if so, "Why was I allowed to live?" Her search to find her family becomes a dangerous trek to a new life in Palestine. Not only must Ruth protect herself but other orphaned children of the Holocaust.
During her journey to Palestine, Ruth comes to understand and confront some of her feelings of loss relative to her family. Memory is painful for Ruth, but it is through memory that Ruth is able to hold fast to her family lost during the Holocaust.
